Allergy Testing & Treatment

An allergy is the body’s reaction to an outside stimulus, such as dust, pollen, grass, pet dander, mold or mildew. The body’s immune system reacts to the substance as if it were an unwelcome invader, triggering a variety of symptoms, including nasal congestion or itching, ear pressure, sinusitis, sneezing, runny nose, itchy/watery eyes and coughing.

Allergen Skin Testing

The first step in treatment is identifying the cause of the allergy. At Robb Family ENT, we use advanced skin testing to diagnose airborne allergies. Our needle-free tests involve a concentrated liquid form of potential allergens that are placed just below the surface of the skin, usually on the back. If you’re allergic to one of these extracts, it will trigger a rash.

Allergy Treatment

The physicians at Robb Family ENT believe in treating the source of your allergy – not just the symptoms – through a natural, FDA-approved remedy called immunotherapy. Your test results are used to create a mixture of substances to which you are allergic. We then use injections or drops under the tongue to administer small doses of these allergens, which increases your body’s tolerance of them.

Our ultimate goal is to give you long-lasting, perhaps even permanent, relief from seasonal and year-round allergies.
