Management and Prevention
Many times hearing loss can be gradual over several years, so the individual themselves are not aware of the slow progressing changes. It is therefore recommended by the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF) and the American Medical Association (AMA) that all individuals receive a baseline hearing test by age 50.
Protecting your hearing is important to your overall health.
Hearing loss prevention includes avoiding areas of extreme decibel level, utilizing hearing protection when exposed to loud sounds, turning down the volume when listening to music (via earbuds, stereo, etc.), and regularly monitoring your hearing if you notice any changes.
